Three women who have been helping the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine are to be honored at the MTV European Music Awards (EMAs) in Dusseldorf later this month.
Anna Kutova, Lena Deshvar and Anfisa Yakovina (pictured above, left to right) have been fighting for care and shelter for victims of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. They will be honored with the MTV EMA Generation Change Award during the live broadcast of the MTV EMA Red Carpet Show.
Their work includes sheltering refugees, relocating and caring for families raising children, adolescents and the disabled, and providing art and group therapy to women and families who have been separated from loved ones.
The three performers were selected by MTV Entertainment Group’s Paramount division in partnership with the nonprofit Love Select.
“We at Choose Love are very grateful for the opportunity to partner with MTV and celebrate the incredible work of three talented women who dedicated themselves to supporting those whose lives were destroyed by the invasion of Ukraine,” said Love Co. – Founder and CEO Josie Naughton. “We are constantly inspired by the commitment and courage of our fundamental partners around the world. They truly offer hope for a brighter future for humanity.”
“More than 7 million refugees have fled Ukraine since the country’s invasion earlier this year, and millions more are displaced and seek shelter and safety from the unjust conflict that surrounds them every day,” said Kelly Bradshaw, SVP of MTV International Brands at Paramount. Through MTV’s partnership with Love Vote, we’re using our platform to highlight the critical, on-the-ground work of those working to address the global refugee crisis and bring humanitarian aid to those in Ukraine.
The MTV EMA Generation Change Awards were launched in 2018 to celebrate young people who are tackling some of the world’s toughest problems through storytelling, digital media and music.
The MTV EMAs will take place in Germany on Sunday, November 13.
