“The Walking Dead” premiered on AMC+ on Nov. 20, scoring the young streamer’s highest single-day viewership ever.

A 90-minute series finale, aired at the program’s usual 9:00 p.m. The Sunday slot was available to air on AMC’s linear channel and then on AMC+, making it the platform’s most-watched episode since its launch in October 2020.

On the linear side, “Rest in Peace,” the “Walking Dead” finale, which also aired its 11th season, has captivated viewers over the past few weeks. Down significantly from its fall ratings, “The Walking Dead” came out as the No. 2 cable drama in both the adults 18-49 and 25-54 demographics for the 13th consecutive year.

Per Nielsen’s Live + 3 Day data, the series finale averaged 3.1 million total viewers, up 36% from its prime. Additionally, the show attracted 1.5 million viewers in the adults 25-54 (+53%) and 1.2 million adults 18-49 demographic (+75%).

The 90-minute episode after the show, “Talking Dead,” averaged 1.3 million viewers in a Nielsen Live+3 rating, up 138% from the previous episode and the show’s highest rating since season 10.

“What a great conclusion to ‘The Zombie Show,’ which debuted on Halloween night in 2010 and is the most successful series in cable television history,” said Dan McDermott, president of AMC Entertainment and AMC Studios. “To celebrate this extraordinary series from the beginning with thousands of fans in a live event over three hours was a great way to end the flagship series, while at the same time, sharing our collective joy in the stories and worlds yet to be explored in this growing and vibrant franchise.

With “The Walking Dead” ending, the “Walking Dead” universe is alive and well on AMC, with any upcoming season of “Fear the Walking Dead” as well as a new spinoff, “The Walking Dead: Dead City,” featuring Lauren Cohan as Maggie and Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan; “The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon,” starring Norman Reedus, and the third installment of “The Walking Dead,” starring Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln as Michonne and Rick.
