“P-Valley” has been renewed for a 3rd season by Starz. Difference Learned.
Like season 2 of the Lionsgate-produced drama series, the third season will consist of 10 episodes. Season 2 premiered on Starz in June and will wrap in August.
“‘P-Valley’ continues to keep audiences on the edge of their seats as it captures an unprecedented level of humanity and artistry in the Mississippi Delta,” said Kathryn Busby, president of original programming at Starz. “This layered drama transcends glitz with authentic and complex characters that have won the hearts of critics and audiences alike. We can’t wait to see what Katori has in store for us in season three.
“P-Valley” was coined by Pulitzer Prize winner Katori Hall in her play “Pussy Valley”. The show is set in The Pink, a robbery club in the Mississippi Delta, and follows the crew as they try to make it in the fictional town of Chukalisa.
The series stars Nico Annan, Elarika Johnson, Brandi Evans, Shannon Thornton, J.J. Alphonse Nicholson, Parker Sawyers, Harriet D. Foy, Dan J. Johnson, Morocco Omari, Dominique DeVore, Tyler Lepley, Jordan M. John Clarence Stewart, Miracle Watts, Shamika Cotton, Gayle Bean, Psalm Salazar, Loretta Devine, Thomas Q. Jones, and Bertram Williams, Jr.
According to Season 2’s official synopsis, “‘P-Valley’ features a brand new Pink as she struggles to stay open during the pandemic, a battle for the throne, and some new blood shaking up the locker room.”
“I am beyond blessed for this opportunity to write the next chapter of ‘P-Valley,'” said Hall. “With its complex, dynamic and beautifully flawed characters, this show is a love letter to marginalized communities in the American South that are rarely seen on screen, and it gives me great pleasure to know that it has been received by Fox around the world. Without our determined Pink Posse, we wouldn’t be back on that pony. You are all our fire. And special thanks to the fuel: everyone who put their hands on this show. From the writers and producers to the actors to the crew to the executives, this show is made with a lot of love, glitz and glitz. It’s going to be a Mississippi minute before we return to your screens again, but I believe it’s worth the wait.
Per Starz, “P-Valley” currently averages 10.3 million viewers per episode across all platforms. In addition to creating the series, Hall serves as executive producer and showrunner. Dante Di Loreto will also executive produce. Lionsgate is a television studio.
