French Banner HAGO Placards ‘Sex (Re)Education,’ ‘Caro Nostra’

Paris-based sales and cooperation banner Good One (HAGO) has boarded, “Sex (Re)Education” (“Septime Ciel”) and “Caro Nostra” to Mipcom, Cannes TV market.

“Sex (Re)Education” is a 10-episode half-hour comedy series directed by Alice Viall, the 2018 César Award-winning short “Winkles.”

The series, written by Clémence Azincourt, Clément Marchand and Vial, follows pensioner Jacques, who is placed in a retirement home by his daughter. When he thinks his life is over, he meets Rose and begins a passionate and lustful affair that wreaks havoc in the mansion. The cast includes Irene Jacob of Krzysztof Kieslowski’s “Rouge” fame. Commissioned by French pay-TV group OCS, the show recently won best series at the La Rochelle fiction festival and is produced next episode by Henri DeBerme, a UGC-backed company.

“Caro Nostra” is a five-part TV drama series, produced by Elephant, the well-established company behind “Desperate Parents” and “Weekend Family.” It was commissioned by Slash, the young-adult French television skating platform.

The series revolves around a vegan family that runs a traditional restaurant in Paris. Grandmother Rosa handles money, father Ambroise cooks, twins Vadim and Antigone wait tables. Although they look like a neighboring family, they are known to be cannibals. Their routine is shaken when Vadim falls in love with Vadim, a human his family intends to eat.

HAGO has also secured major drama deals, including “I Killed My Wife” and “Elle’s Kitchen,” a six-episode thriller series for 13ème Rue (NBCUniversal International Networks and Direct-To-Consumer). .

“I Killed My Wife” was acquired by Walter Presence/Global Series Network in the UK, Ireland, US and Canada, RTL Deutschland’s channel RTL Crime, RTL TVI in Belgium, as well as TF1 Group for over-the-air TV and subscription. -VOD rights in France.

“Elle’s Kitchen” will be sold to RTL TVI Belgium, TF1 Group (for free TV and SVOD windows in France) and TV5 Canada. Produced by CineTeve and 2425 Films, “Elle Kitchen” competed at the La Rochelle Fiction Festival.

Anne-Claire Villeneuve, head of Canadian acquisitions for TV5, said: “We were immediately captivated by ‘Elle’s Kitchen’, directed by Annabelle Langron. “The series is refreshing, bold, humorous, and perfectly matches the editorial direction we want to take,” continued Villeneuve.

HAGO has closed deals on “Bellefond”, a 90-minute show starring famous French TV host Stéphane Bern. Produced for French television by Big Band History, “Bellefond” was purchased by Walter Presence/Global Series Network for the United Kingdom, Ireland and North America. On October 18, prime-time French TV will debut on Broadcast France Televisions. The second episode is currently in production.

The banner is a reference to Sabrina Van Tassel’s documentary “The State of Texas v. Melissa” sold to RTL Deutschland channel RTL Crime. The docu is a true crime investigation of injustice. Melissa Lucio – the subject of the film – has been on death row for more than 14 years and lost her final appeal in February 2021. Her execution date was moved to April 27 and adjourned to April 26.

The film was released theatrically in France last September and was selected by more than 30 festivals and is currently streaming on Hulu in the US, Stan in Australia, Discovi in ​​Latin America and other key territories.

Also on the HAGO list is “Sammy by Sammy,” a documentary produced by Empreinte Digitale about Sammy Davis Jr.’s dedication to civil rights in the 1960s.

HAGO was founded in August 2021 by Virginie Boureux, former Playtime TV head of sales and acquisitions and former chairman of Charades, Constantin Brist.
