David McCormick — the former CEO of Bridgewater Associates and a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania — plans to return to the national discussion in March, “A Superpower in Peril: Reinventing America.”
Why is it important? McCormick, 57, is weighing a range of options, from senior corporate roles to Pennsylvania’s 24th to a possible cabinet seat in a future Republican administration.
The book is a hit. The candidate’s optimistic, upbeat tone: “I don’t believe for a second that America’s best days are behind it — but it depends on what we do next,” McCormick wrote.
- “America is unique. To keep it that way, we need transformative leadership and a vision for the future. This book offers a blueprint for reviving the American Dream, winning the race for technological supremacy, saving our Republic, and emerging from China. Mastering the Digital Age.”
Behind the scenes: McCormick began writing the book while still at Bridgewater Associates, working with co-author James Cunningham.
- Since the campaign, the book has been transformed into a governing agenda “based on conservative principles.”
“I am blessed. In an extraordinary American life,” McCormick wrote.
- “This book draws on everything I learned growing up in Pennsylvania, as an Army paratrooper and combat vet, as CEO of two successful businesses, and serving at the highest levels of government, and tells the story behind one of the most high-profile races in the country.”
